Nikkei 225 futures are currently trading at 18910-higher by 1.01% as compared to the previous closing. The contract closed in the positive territory in the last trading session also.

In the Cash Markets, the Nikkei 225 fell 1.57% to close at 19,084.97 on Monday. The index rose by about 3.9% on Friday.

The Nikkei 225 dropped today as the flu-like virus outbreak worsened over the weekend, increasing fears that Tokyo could also go into its first-ever lockdown.

The Nikkei’s volatility index gained 4.2% to 54.98 on Monday.

According to market sources, more than 662,700 people have been infected by the China-linked virus across the world.

The U.S. President over the weekend extended his stay-at-home guidelines until the end of the next month.

Japan was set to expand its entry ban to include people traveling from China, the US and most of Europe.

The Japanese PM said over the weekend that the country was close to a national emergency as infections rose.

The broader Topix declined 1.64% to close at 1,435.54.

All except six of the thirty-three sub-indices on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed lower today. Banking & Insurance and air transport were the top losers on Monday.

Toyota Motor Co Ltd dropped 3.3% as the company said the group’s global production in the last month fell 12.2% on a YoY basis.

Sony Corp fell 3.80% after the company said that the impact of the flu-like virus outbreak would be large enough to eliminate the entire upward revisions to its annual earnings estimates.

Major Oil refiners dropped today as US crude futures fell below $20 per barrel on Monday.

Other top losers in the index include ANA Holdings Inc. (fell 10%), IHI Corp. (dropped 7.9%) and Nippon Sheet Glass Co Ltd (dropped 7.0%).

On the technical front, the RSI is currently at 49.09% and suggests that the market can move in the upward direction. The current price is above the MA5. The %K has crossed %D from below to the upside at around 15% and suggests that the market can move in the upward direction.

Overall Bias is Positive and Short-term trades can be initiated with below mentioned Stop Loss and Profit targets.
