Nikkei 225 futures are currently trading at 20982-higher by 2.27% as compared to the previous closing. The contract closed in the positive territory in the last trading session.

In the Cash Markets, the Nikkei 225 added 1.73% to close at 20,741.65 on Monday. It was its best closing level since 6th March. Air and land transport stocks were the top performers on Monday.

The index rose today as the government looked set to end the state of emergency in Tokyo, boosting hopes that the country may soon start recovering from the recession.

The broader Topix added 1.65% to close at 1,502.20. It was its highest closing level in two-and-a-half months. All except one of the thirty-three sub-indices on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed in positive territory today.

Air transport was the top-performing sector in the main bourse today. ANA Holdings and Japan Airlines surged 7.6% and 9.41% respectively on Monday.

Stocks of West Japan Railway rose 5.6% due to economy reopening hopes.

On the other hand, Fujifilm Holdings fell 2.8% as it did not give a profit projection for the current business year through March 2021.

Other top gainers in the index include- Casio Computer Co Ltd (surged 12.5%), Tokyo Fudosan Holdings Corp (rose 9.3%) and IHI Corp (advanced 7.5%).

Top losers in the index include- Oji Holdings Corp (fell 4.2%), Ajinomoto Co Inc. (declined 2.8%) and Taiyo Yuden Co Ltd (dropped 1.9%) on Monday.

On the data front, the final reading of the Japanese Leading Economic Index for March released earlier today came in at 84.7. The index reading was above the consensus estimates of 83.8.

On the technical front, the RSI is currently at 66.44% and suggests that the market can move in the upward direction. The current price is above the MA5. The %K has crossed the %D from below to the upside at around 79% and suggests that the market can move in the upward direction.

Overall Bias is Positive and Short-term trades can be initiated with below mentioned Stop Loss and Profit targets.
