Nikkei 225 futures are currently trading at 18735-higher by 6.42% as compared to the previous closing. The contract closed in the positive territory in the last trading session also.

In the Cash Markets, the Nikkei 225 advanced 4.24% to close at 18,576.30 on Monday. It was its highest close in about a week.

The benchmark advanced today, boosted by a slowdown in coronavirus deaths and new cases in global hotspots, as uncertainty over a potential lockdown in Tokyo kept some market players on the sidelines.

The sentiment was lifted after Rome reported its lowest daily virus death toll for more than two weeks on Sunday.

The Tokyo bourse appeared to have shrugged off shocking US employment report released last week.

According to market sources, the Japanese PM will impose a state of emergency tomorrow so as to contain the spreading of the China-linked virus.

The trading volume of stocks on the mainboard was 2.47 trillion yen, below its average over the last 20 days of 3.54 trillion yen.

The broader Topix added 3.86% to close at 1,376.30.

All of the thirty-three sub-indices on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed higher today. The cyclical sector was among the top gainers on Monday.

The information and communication sector gained in hopes of the rising demand for data as more people stay at home due to the coronavirus.

NTT DoCoMo rose 6.8%, while Softbank Corp gained 7%.

Fujifilm Holdings Corp rose 6.97% after news that Tokyo was planning to increase stockpiles of the Avigan anti-flu drug.

On the economic front, the Japanese Consumer Confidence for March released today came in at 30.9. The index reading was below the consensus estimates of 36.8.

On the technical front, the RSI is currently at 50.05% and suggests that the market can move in the upward direction. The current price is above the MA5. The %K has crossed %D from below to the upside at around 57% and suggests that the market can move in the upward direction.

Overall Bias is Positive and Short-term trades can be initiated with below mentioned Stop Loss and Profit targets.
