In the Premarket trading session on Tuesday, Walmart Inc. stock was trading at 117.13- lower by 0.64% as compared to its previous close.
The company reported fourth-quarter earnings on Tuesday. Stocks of Walmart fell after the company reported lower-than-expected revenue as weak demand for toys and video games during the holiday season.
Outlook for future came up short of expectation as the company forecasted slow growth of e-commerce.
The company generated earnings per share of $1.38 for the fourth quarter. The earnings per share were below the consensus estimates of $1.43. Walmart brought in $141.67 billion in revenue for the fourth quarter. The revenue was also below the market expectation of $142.49 billion.
Company’s official said unfavourable conditions in Chile decreased its operating income by 110 million. They also said the holiday season wasn’t as good as expected due to lower sales volume.
Looking at the current situations the company officials expects an annual earnings per shares to be in the range of 5 to 5.15 dollars a share while the market expects an annual earnings of 5.22 per shares.
On the technical front, the market is in uptrend forming higher highs and higher lows, 13-day EMA has crossed 26-day EMA which indicates strong positive momentum in the market. MACD histogram also indicates positive momentum in the market.
